On September 15, 2025, OKKO released the second chapter of Matterica's documentary series Obschak: Russia's Most Powerful Crime Syndicate. The release was timed to coincide with part two of Yuri Bykov's fiction series Likhie — a drama set in the same world of Far Eastern organised crime in the 1990s. The documentary series is directed by Vladislav Kuznetsov.
Release context
Obschak chronicles the OCG built by Evgeny Vasin, known as "Dzhem", in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in the late 1980s — a criminal network that came to dominate the entire Russian Far East. Each episode runs 25 minutes and draws on archival material alongside new interviews: former OCG members, law enforcement officers, and journalists. Releasing alongside the second chapter of Likhie positions Obschak as a documentary companion piece to Bykov's drama — both works approach the same era and milieu from different angles.
Press
Gazeta.Ru published a review on the day of release. Earlier, on June 12, 2025, Lenta.ru ran a long piece on the series timed to its festival premiere at Beat Film Festival.
